Description: This article, created by H.S. Schoeman and A.G.W. Steyn of the University of Pretoria, defines the importance, organization, and evaluation of undergraduate project work. This lesson plan in congruent with the authors teaching, they state: "Since it is the ability of the statistician to apply his subject in practice which makes him a statistician rather than a mathematician, and the ability to cope with real world situations develops from professional experience and a maturity of outlook, the inclusion of project work as part of the statistics curriculum is seen as important by the Department of Statistics at the University of Pretoria." This is an excellent introduction into the curriculum of different statistics programs around the country. This could easily be implemented in portions of other programs.
