Description: This module, created by the GIS Career and Education Awareness program at San Diego State University, is the second in the series and introduces GIS applications in various fields. This module introduces various GIS applications and illustrates their usefulness in different specialty areas such as traffic and street view, wildfire web mapping, criminal justice, business and marketing, and environmental science/ecology. The activities are divided into seven sections. The first five sections cover the different specialty areas mentioned above and the last two sections include additional exercises using another GIS application website and a written assignment based on the first 5 sections. Lastly, the module provides a student survey for instructor use. Educators can find the answer sheets to the student questions here.
