Publisher: National Center for Education Statistics
Description: The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), in cooperation with the Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences, is the "primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education." On this site, visitors have access to thousands of reports, datasets, and publications on topics from student achievement to women's educational equity. The NCES also produces four definitive annual reports: The Condition of Education, The Digest of Education Statistics, Indicators of School Crime and Safety, and Projections of Education Statistics. There are also a number of data tools which visitors can use to search for information about higher education institutions, public and private schools and school districts, and public libraries. Users may also sign up for NewsFlash, an email newsletter which is sent to those who sign up when new content is added to the site in areas of particular interest. This site is helpful for everyone involved in education, from administrators to curriculum creators to instructors, in order to understand trends and issues in schools, today and historically.
