Description: This skeletal and soft tissue pathology case study, provided by the University of Pittsburgh Department of Pathology, is an excellent learning tool for students and instructors in the health science fields. In this case, a 43-year-old female with a history of obesity, sleep apnea, depression and gastroesophageal reflux presents with left hip discomfort and pain in her lower back. Visitors are shown CT scans, MRI and radiography images of the patient’s pelvis, along with gross and microscopic images. The official diagnosis found in the “Final Diagnosis” section is accompanied by a discussion of the contributing doctor’s findings and a list of references. This is an excellent resource for students in the health sciences to familiarize themselves with using patient history and laboratory results to diagnose patient’s conditions.
