Description:
This is a case study presented by the University of Pittsburgh Department of Pathology where a 36-year-old man known to be infected with HIV presented with decreased visual acuity, back pain and mild leg weakness. The case study provides radiology images along with microscopic description in order to allow the visitor the opportunity to diagnose the patient. Clicking on the final diagnosis link will provide users the actual diagnosis along with important learning points as well as a list of references. This is an excellent resource for students in health sciences to familiarize themselves with using patient history and laboratory results to develop a diagnosis. It is also a helpful site for educators to use to introduce or test student learning in neuropathology.
