Title: Is Your Valley a Density Tank?

This lesson from the STEM Action Center - Utah teaches students how to use a density tank to visualize an inversion. The lesson connects Utah's valleys with the cold air pool phenomenon. Students learn about substances, properties, energy, states of matter, density, and phase changes. Student learn how to ask questions, plan, and carry out investigations; develop a model; and obtain information. These learning outcomes correspond with the following educational standards in Utah: 5.2.2, 6.2.2, and 8.1.2.
