Title: Pass It On
Url: https://ateec.org/pass-it-on/
Publisher: Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center
Description: This page provides a problem-based activity on risk assessment of environmental health issues. Students will look at how people pass diseases and germs through their hands. "Before students enter class, sprinkle the doorknob with floor or talc powder. Hopefully, they will not notice the powder on their hands. Ten or fifteen minutes into the class period look for evidence of the power on student hands, books, face. Turn off the lights. Using a black light the white powder will glow a bright white. Hopefully, the black light will reveal that the power has been transferred to many places." Through this classroom activity, students will learn about the mechanics of disease transfer from bacteria and viruses. This resource is free to download.
