Description:
Ecoregions denote areas of general similarity in ecosystems and in the type, quality, and quantity of environmental resources. They are designed to serve as a spatial framework for the research, assessment, management, and monitoring of ecosystems and ecosystem components. These maps are available from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in four levels of detail, from Level I (the broadest) to Level IV (the most detailed). Maps can be downloaded directly from the website as PDFs, or can be ordered as hardcopies for a fee. The data is also available as compressed ArcInfo coverages, with metadata, that can be downloaded from an FTP site.
