Description: This overview of nanotechnology is presented by the NaMCATE project. Nanoelectronics "consists of nanoscale switches, diodes and transistors made of nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes and organic molecules." Energy band structures of solid state materials and basic concepts of quantum mechanics are discussed in this module. This lesson provides two learning activities on Chemical Bonds of Molecular Electronics and Conductive Polymers and Measurements of Semiconductor Bandgap Using Optical Absorption. Additionally, a powerpoint presentation is included.
