Publisher: Royal Society of Chemistry (Great Britain)

Description: This video, distributed on YouTube by the Royal Society of Chemistry, is on the basic principles of High Performance Liquid Chromatography. This video is a short primer (5 minutes, thirty seconds) which introduces the basic technique and instrumentation. The theory of HPLC is described at a very basic level. Separation theory is presented in a qualitiative fashion, and both the mechanics and applications of HPLC were generally described. The ultimate strength of this video is the general nature of the content that makes it appealing to a wide audience. The video may be most appropriate in a lower-level general education science course (i.e forensic science) or as a quick orientation video for instrumental analysis students.
