Description: This site uses the example of Native American basket weaving to demonstrate mathematical concepts (namely, Cartesian coordinates). The content provides a background of this cultural tradition while explaining related mathematical concepts. An interactive applet is also included which allows students to create their own basket design. The interdisciplinary unit may be useful for classes on Native American culture as well as math classes.
