Title: Resource Scavenger Hunt PDF
Url: https://www1.maine.gov/dacf/mgs/education/lessons/act01.pdf
Publisher: Maine. Department of Conservation.
Description: In this activity, students, individually or in teams, have a set amount of time to collect as many specific elements, mixtures, and compounds as possible which are used in daily life and come from earth materials. It reinforces the understanding of the definitions of element, mixture, and compound and points out the vital link between materials obtained from rocks and minerals and the levels of comfort, technological achievement, and materials usage that exist in their daily lives. After the alotted time, they will bring in their scavengings and have a class tally session. A table listing commonly encountered items that they might bring in is provided, as well as a tally sheet for the students.
