Url: https://www.yumpu.com/ro/document/view/11497779/sea-floor-spreading-ma...
Creator: McLelland, Christine
Publisher: Geological Society of America.
Description: This activity, which can be performed by the teacher and an assistant, or by students working in pairs, shows the mechanism of seafloor spreading. Two pieces of paper are pulled apart from between two desks or tables, while one student marks the pages with bands of color to represent areas of reversed and normal magnetic polarity. It includes background material explaining the layers of Earth, types of plate boundaries, and a review of the evidence for continental drift and seafloor spreading. A list of references and additional resources, a glossary, and a student worksheet with evaluation questions are provided.
