Url: https://www.exploratorium.edu/faultline/activezone/highway.html
Publisher: Exploratorium (Organization)
Description: This is an activity that students can do at home - actually, in the car. Students create a seismogram of the motion of the car as it moves down the road. This part of the lesson can be done by elementary, middle, and high school students. The second part of the lesson is to measure the amplitude of the motion recorded, conversion of units and using a logarithmic scale. The amplitude and conversion of units can be done by middle school students, and the logarithmic scale explained by the teacher. High school students should be able to complete this lab independently.
