Description: These are the slides for the NetWorks webinar Second Life in Education held on 3/28/08. Do you ever catch students snoozing behind their textbooks? Do you get blank stares during your PowerPoint presentations? Ever want to confiscate their cell phones, ipods, and DS players, so they will pay attention to what you are teaching? Don't take their technology from them- incorporate it into your classroom! Generation Y is the generation that grew up with computers- they are digital natives, while we are the ones who are foreigners. Join NetWorks and Karl Kapp, author of Gadgets, Games, and Gizmos for Learning, for a tour of the 3D learning environment of Second Life. This session will explore how the basics of Second Life work and how it is used to facilitate learning. Find out why 3D environments make a difference in learning and how learning professionals can leverage Second Life to facilitate valid, meaningful learning events. In this session, we'll answer the questions: -What is Second Life? -Why is a 3D learning environment different? -What type of learning occurs within Second Life? -How do learning professionals use the 3D environment of Second Life learning?
