Title: The Nanotech Academy Activity D: Cleanroom Tour

Description: This lesson plan from the Nanotechnology Applications and Career Knowledge (NACK) Center provides an example of what may be done on a tour of an actual nanotechnology laboratory. Such a tour gives students the opportunity to tour a real research lab, dress in cleanroom suits and observe the tools used in nanotechnology research. The exercise should take about one hour including togging (dressing in cleanroom suits) time. The students should be instructed ahead of time that baseball hats, open toed shoes and purses are not allowed in the cleanroom. A laboratory tour gives students the opportunity to learn the importance of cleanroom suits and protocol as well as the utilization of nanotechnology tools. This and all other resources from the NACK Center require a fast, easy, free log-in.
