Description: This Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) website aims to foster the effective management of, and scientific research on, harmful algal blooms (HAB) to understand their causes, predict their occurrences, and mitigate their effects. The site includes an overview of the program, introduction to HABs, links to relevant databases and activities, and services provided (including literature grants, an identification service, publications, and training courses). The site also features Harmful Algal News, an IOC-published newsletter on toxic algae and algal blooms.
