Title: Activities in Meteorology
Url: https://gpm.nasa.gov/education/lesson-plans/meteorology-educators-reso...
Creator: Robinson, Henry W.
Publisher: United States. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Description: The book, Sorbjan, Z (1996):Hands-on Meteorology, published by the American Meteorological Society, is an excellent source of ideas for teachers to use in the classroom. However, no book can be complete, so this web site is an extension of the ideas in Sorbjan's very readable book. The project grew out of a number activities which were originally documented in Neuberger, Hans and George Nicholas (1962):Manual of Lecture Demonstrations, Laboratory Experiments, and Observational Equipment for Teaching Elementary Meteorology in Schools and Colleges, College of Mineral Industries, The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, 183 pgs. The original activities were constructed, documented and tested in three summer workshops; however, there were some errors and misleading concepts presented. These have been corrected.
Since the time the Manual was written, there have been some major changes in education as well as the technology available in the classroom. The author has added a significant number of activities to the original manual, including two laboratory exercises used in Meteorology 101 at Montgomery College, Germantown. My thanks to a summer Intern, Joshua Larson, who did much of the scanning and initial drafting of the work.
