Title: Solar System Exploration: Galileo Legacy Site
Url: https://science.nasa.gov/mission/galileo/
Publisher: United States. National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Description: Launched from the Kennedy Space Center on October 18th, 1989, the Galileo spacecraft "changed the way we look at our solar system." This is NASA’s website for the Galileo spacecraft's mission to Jupiter. Galileo was the first to measure Jupiter's atmosphere with a descent probe and the first to conduct long-term observations of the Jovian system from orbit. It found evidence of subsurface saltwater on Europa, Ganymede and Callisto and revealed the intensity of volcanic activity on Io. These photos, as well as others from this mission, are available at this site maintained by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
