The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources Red List of Threatened Species conveys information about plant and animal species on its website, and is regarded as "the most comprehensive, objective global approach for evaluating the conservation status of plant and animal species." Visitors will find that the website is divided up into the seven categories they use to classify the threat to plants and animals. The categories are "Extinct," "Extinct in the Wild," "Critically Endangered," "Endangered," "Vulnerable," "Near Threatened," and "Least Concern."
