Description: This paper, presented at the 2002 Physics Education Research Conference, presents the results of a study intended to investigate students' cognitive processes when reading line graphs. The researchers developed a computer program to determine the order readers glance the components of a line graph, and then analyzed the glancing order of each component. The results help identify secondary students' cognitive processes for line graphs.
