Url: https://path.upmc.edu/cases/case215.html
Creator: Whisnant, Richard
Publisher: University of Pittsburgh. Dept. of Pathology
Description: This hematopathology case study, provided by the University of Pittsburgh Department of Pathology, is an excellent resource for students and instructors in the health science fields. This case involves a 40-year-old woman presenting with a nodule in the skin on the left jaw line. Images from a biopsy of the nodule provide conclusive information that contributes to the patient’s diagnosis. A description of these images, and the patient’s immunohistochemistry and molecular studies are also provided. The official final diagnosis is accompanied by a discussion of the contributing doctor’s findings and a list of references. This is an excellent resource for students in the health sciences to familiarize themselves with using patient history and laboratory results to diagnose patient’s conditions.
