Description: This is a case study presented by the University of Pittsburgh Department of Pathology where a 25 year old gave birth at 42 weeks to a baby boy by vaginal delivery. She developed oliguria with 2+ proteinuria on urinalysis four hours following delivery, and subsequently developed pitting edema of the upper and lower extremities, blurred vision, and mild jaundice without hypertension. The case study provides laboratory data, clinical course, and differential diagnosis in order to allow the user the opportunity to diagnose the patient. Clicking on the final diagnosis link will provide users with a discussion of the actual diagnosis along with important learning points as well as a list of references. This is an excellent resource for students in health sciences to familiarize themselves with using patient history and laboratory results to develop a diagnosis. It is also a helpful site for educators to use to introduce or test student learning in hematopathology.
