Url: https://stem.utah.gov/lesson-library/cold-air-pool-3/
Publisher: Utah. Department of Community and Culture

This lesson from the STEM Action Center - Utah explores how a cold air pool develops due to the mountains surrounding Utah valleys. Through the lesson, students develop a model to predict the effect of heat energy on states of matter and density. Students will learn how to plan and conduct an investigation and then analyze and interpret the data to identify patterns in changes in a substance’s properties to determine whether a chemical reaction has occurred. A 9-page lesson plan is provided and fulfills the following Utah SEEd standards: 6.2.2 and 8.1.3.
