Title: Engineering Education: How to Design a Gender-Inclusive Curriculum PDF
Url: https://www.iwitts.org/proven-practices/retention-sub-topics/curriculu...
Creator: Armstrong, J.
Leder, G.
Publisher: National Institute for Women in Trades, Technology and Science
Description: This paper describes how engineering courses should be changed so they are more appealing to female students. There were major increases in female enrollment in engineering in the eighties but they have plateaued and in some cases declined in the nineties. The study suggests ways to improve courses includes pruning the content to avoid overload and treating the topics in a "total context which includes social, environmental, and political considerations as well as technical aspects."
