Title: Pi in the Sky PDF
Url: https://glast.sonoma.edu/teachers/pi_in_the_sky.pdf
Publisher: Sonoma State University. NASA Education and Public Outreach Group
Description: This is the third in a series of three booklets designed to teach students about basic mathematical and physical principles such as logarithms, geometry, and size and scale. Each book is loosely based on the NASA GLAST mission. The activities teach about radians and degree, angles, parallax, and the apparent sizes of objects. Students create and use devices to measure the apparent sizes of objects at various distances and use this information (along with the known physical size of the objects) to determine their distances, or to use the known distance to determine the physical sizes of the objects.
