Publisher: University of Sheffield. Dept. of Geography
Description: This collection of cartograms, or density-equalizing maps, shows the world's territories re-sized on each map according to the variable being mapped. Over 100 variables have been mapped, including population, land area, wealth, and education. The maps and data files cover 200 territories, mainly United Nation Member States, and include at least 99.95 percent of the world's population. The colors used on the maps group the territories into 12 geographical regions, and allow for an easier visual comparison between the maps. Each map is also available as a downloadable poster, and is accompanied by a standard-area map to aid in identifying territories.
