Title: The Paradox of Discovery
Url: https://ewradio.org/program.aspx?ProgramID=4133
Creator: Pomplun, Steve
Publisher: University of Wisconsin--Madison. Sea Grant College Program
Description: This radio broadcast features an interview with an author who, after having explored a remote area of Africa, begin to see paradoxes in his western ideas of 'wild' and 'unexplored'. Topics include the western conceits in the ideas that something doesn't exist until a European or American discovers it, and that even though westerners have cut forests and dammed rivers to enjoy a comfortable standard of living, they expect others to preserve their lands in their natural state. The clip is 2 minutes in length and is available in MP3 format.
