Description: This radio broadcast explains how packrat nests, usually made of nearby sticks and leaves, may last as long as 40,000 years. The materials in these nests may reveal the ecology of an area in the past. Studies of the nests have revealed changes in the ecosystems of the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico over time.
