Url: https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2005/1127/
Creator: Stoffer, Philip W. (Philip Ward)
Publisher: Geological Survey (U.S.)
Description: This guidebook contains a series of geology field trips featuring destinations along the San Andreas Fault in the region that experienced surface rupture during the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. The introduction includes material on faults and earthquakes in the Bay area, a comparison of the 1906 and 1989 earthquakes, a discussion of earthquake magnitude and intensity, geologic features of the fault, and other information. The field trip list covers eight areas accessible to the public by roadside stops or hikes. The field trips offer visits to regional faults and nearby geologic and landscape features. The trips provide opportunities to make casual observations about the geologic history and landscape evolution of the region.
