Description: The Bishop Museum in Honolulu houses a diverse array of exhibits focusing on the natural and cultural history of the Hawaiian islands. The Science Adventure Center of the Bishop Museum is a 16,500 square foot facility with interactive exhibits on Hawaii’s environment, including volcanology, oceanography, and biodiversity. The Center features a walk-through volcano where visitors can explore the interior of a volcano, a Deep Ocean Zone, a Hawaiian Origins Tunnel, and other exhibits specifically designed to illustrate Hawaii’s unique features. The Bishop museum also has a planetarium and temporary exhibits. Their collection of over 22 million plants and animals has been the subjects of publications and ongoing research. The Museum hosts an Science Cafe, where the general public can attend presentations made by leading scientists and researchers in their respective fields. A variety of educational resources are available online, including guides to outreach, Lending Boxes, Hawaii Maritime Center, Ethnobotanical Garden, Museum After Dark, as well as educational guides to the Museum exhibits.
