These free Webinars provide insight into current and emerging web based social learning technologies and how they impact the students and instructors in the modern classroom. Overall goals of the series include: Goal 1: To introduce participants to new tools and get them thinking about how these new tools can be used in the classroom. Goal 2: Have participants share examples of how they've already integrated new teaching and learning methods in and outside of the classroom. Goal 3: Introduce participants to tools that can be used to easily filter the thousands of technology developments every day; helping participants monitor and keep updated as new learning tools become available. Today modern interactive applications that run in an Internet browser are approaching the look, feel and richness of installed desktop applications. This session will start with a brief overview of the characteristics of these modern web-based tools and an introduction to new learning modalities. Although the proliferation of webware has resulted, primarily, in online or web-based office suites, web-based applications are available for a wide-range of traditional desktop software, including: Bookmarks, Personal Organizer, Business Intelligence, Photo Editor, Calculator, Photo Manager, Calendar, Polls, Contacts, Project, CRM, Scheduler, Database, Task Manager, Drawing, Time Tracker, Expense Tracker, Video Editor, File Sender, Voicemail File Server, Web Conferencing, Mind Mapper, Web Publishing, Outliner. The majority of this session will be hands-on, providing participants exposure and training to various web- based productivity applications including Google Docs and Spreadsheets, Zoho Writer, and ThinkFree.
