Title: Introduction to Materials Joining Information and Curriculum (Demonstration Disk)
Url: https://www.weld-ed.org/Curriculum/
Publisher: National Center for Welding Education and Training
Description: This website directs users to how they can obtain a free copy of the Introduction to Materials Joining Information and Curriculum Demonstration Disk.

Through the efforts of the Ohio Department of Education (Career -Technical and Adult Education), The College Tech Prep Curriculum Service Center at the University of Toledo, The Ohio Board of Regents, these NSF grant partners, and other colleges in the state, a College Tech Prep document titled "Emerging Engineering Technologies Technical Competency Profile (TCP)" was developed.

TCP and expected outcomes:

This TCP encompasses the National Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum and includes additional elective "specialization" courses (approved by PLTW) for delivery in Ohio schools only. One of these elective courses is titled "Materials Joining Technology" and is specifically designed to teach skills necessary for the preparation of welding / materials joining technicians. A link to the Introduction to Materials Joining portion of this TCP is included on the page.

The TCP outlines what student skills / outcomes are expected at the completion of the course. For those schools (secondary or post-secondary) that do not offer the PLTW program, they are permitted to go ahead and use this welding / materials joining TCP free of charge. To receive all of the course materials including teaching aids, lessons, and labs, the instructor will be required to attend a Train-the-Trainer course. To inquire about this when this training is offered, please contact Ken Smith at the addresses listed at the bottom of the page.

MERC Online Reviewer comments: The material shows real world problems relating to various material joining situations.
