Title: Modeling Across the Curriculum (MAC)
Url: http://mac.concord.org/
Publisher: Concord Consortium
Description: This project aims to demonstrate the effective use of technology to a student-centered, model-based approach to secondary science teaching. Using a variety of computer-based manipulable models and probeware, MAC teaches students how to create, refine, and apply mental models to improve their understanding of science. MAC evaluates student learning through embedded on-line assessments, as well as with conventional pre- and post-test instruments, and scores on standardized assessments. The project will also identify, investigate, and address the barriers to the widespread adoption and long-range sustainability of this approach.
