Description: The Farber Gravestone Collection is a repository of more than 13,500 images that depict the sculpture and design of over 9,000 gravestones. The majority of the gravestones represented on the site were created before the year 1800. While most of the depicted headstones are from the New England states, gravestones from eastern Canada, England, and Ireland are also part of the collection. The impressive collection is available both via web browser interface, and via a standalone java application. This collection may be useful to anyone wishing to learn more about the history of funerals and burials as well as instructors looking for visual aids for their history or mortuary science classrooms.
