Description:
In this activity, presented by the Lane Community College MAPS GIS Program, students "are led through a series of steps to describe spatial patterns of various data layers representing ancestry." Students will examine data from the 2005 US Census to determine whether the spatial distribution is dispersed, clustered or random. The activity introduces many different concepts concerning data sets and how they are best used, in terms of GIS. Visitors will find links to the instructor and student versions of the lesson and links to the web-based GIS utility used in the activity.
