Title: How Dense Is It? An Introduction to Concrete Density and Aggregates
Url: http://matse1.matse.illinois.edu/concrete/g.html
Publisher: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering
Description: The Materials Science and Technology Teacher's Workshop (MAST) provides this lesson plan for students learning about concrete. The purpose of the activity is to "determine the density of a concrete sample and to learn the effect of various types of aggregates on concrete's density." The experiment requires concrete samples which should be prepared ahead of time. Recipes for the concrete samples are provided.

The experiment should take around 45-50 minutes of class time. Discussion questions and teacher notes are included, as well as a link to a video clip.
