Description:
In this activity, students use laboratory equipment to construct a working simulation of a geyser. When the water is heated to its boiling point, the 'geyser' erupts, spewing its contents, and the cycle starts again. They can observe what happens as the water heats and boils, determine how many cycles will occur before the temperature difference between the water in the flask and the water in the plastic container is not great enough to refill the system, and time the duration between eruptions.
