SlideShare
Description: This resource, created by Joseph J. Schwab for the National Center for Rapid Technologies (Rapid Tech), discusses the use of nanotechnology in the manufacturing of plastics. The author first begins by providing a technical definition of what nanotechnology is. He breaks the technology into three sections: nanostructured materials, nanotools and nanodevices. Schwab presents methods, and also results, from the implementation of the technology in production of plastic. More specifically, he discusses: carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, nanoclay, metal & metal oxide nonparticles and POSS nanostructures. This is a fairly long presentation on the topic. The author employs images, graphs, charts and tables to convey his points. It attempts to encompass the many different aspects of this emerging technology. It is available in pdf format.
