Title: Determining Land Cover Classification for the St. Louis River Watershed--Remote Sensing Lesson
Url: http://gistr3.delmar.edu/igett/LU_Sedg.html
Publisher: Integrated Geospatial Education and Technology Training Project (iGETT)
Description: Land cover has a significant impact on the health of a watershed. In order to monitor the change in land cover over time, an initial land cover map must be created. This project guides students through the process of creating a land cover map of the St. Louis River Watershed that can be utilized in future comparative activities. The St. Louis River watershed is the second largest tributary to Lake Superior and is home to a variety of land covers ranging from forest and wetland land cover to industrial and mining. The educational materials may be downloaded in PDF and RAR format.
